Lazeeza
Toast Around the World:
Arabic: صحه / seha (Seh-huh)
English Translation: Health
Oman is a country in the middle east where most of the population is Muslim. The Quran forbids drinking alcohol, therefore most Muslim countries have popular cocktails that are alcohol free, mixing delicious fruit juices instead. While liquor is not illegal in Oman, alcohol can only be purchased by residents who have obtained a personal license from authorities. It is also sold in some licensed hotels and restaurants to accommodate tourists. Drinking toasts are still used to honor loved ones or for special occasions, and are usually done with coffee or tea, but can also be done with other drinks.
The Lazeeza (or لذيذ, which means delicious in Arabic), is inspired by the non-alcoholic tropical fruit juice cocktail called “White Wonder”.
